Joseph E. Cardon manuscript of Testimonies of the Divinity of the Church, circa 1930.

Collection consists of the original manuscript of Joseph E. Cardon's book, Testimonies of the Divinity of the Church, and includes his handwritten notes, additions, and editing. Also includes a six page documentation about the series of events that led from Cardon's idea to compile testimonies of church leaders to the actual book being published. Includes a copy of the text of a letter written to President Joseph F. Smith asking for approval for the project, which was initially done serially in The Liahona, The Elder's Journal, and was later compiled into the book. Also includes a copy of the text of a letter from Joseph F. Smith giving his approval. Two signatures of Mission Presidents of the time, Nephi Jenson and George McCune, are included in their manuscript testimonies submitted to Cardon. The manuscript is complete up to the testimony of George McCune. The entries after McCune's were presumably included after the manuscript was typed and added before publication. The manuscript has some browning of pages, but it is in good condition.
